Fluffy Ecstasy: When Love Comes Through the Kicked-In Door
On November 21, 2026, Rebekka Kricheldorf's comedy Fluffy Ecstasy will premiere at the Kleine Haus of the Mainz State Theatre. The production by Hannah Frauenrath transforms a hungover awakening, 500 rollmops, and a web of desire, misunderstandings, and identity search into a vibrant, queer variety show with music and glitter.
A Morning When Nothing Is Right
Louise and her roommate Momo awaken after a night of partying. Then unexpected guests storm through the kicked-in door: a Lieferando delivery person with 500 rollmops and Louise's best friend Amelie. Amelie has fallen madly in love with Hannes Schlumberger, a behavioral psychologist, but Louise also finds him appealing. Another love interest is needed – and thus begins a turbulent game of deception, rivalry, and romantic overwhelm.
Farce between Feydeau and the Present
Kricheldorf's play draws on the mechanics of the French vaudeville comedy and serves as both a homage and a parody of Georges Feydeau. Doors slam, gifts reach the wrong recipients, rivals clash, and a dancer appears under the bed. The dramaturgy develops into a fast-paced boulevard theatre that highlights human weaknesses with a pleasure for exaggeration.
Queer Variety Show with Music and Glitter
Hannah Frauenrath stages the comedy as a queer variety show. Music by Carl Grübel, set design by Hanga Balla and Polly Stephan, and the dramaturgical work by Marie-Philine Pippert give the stage event a colorful, deliberately exaggerated form. Between costume, lighting, and precise acting, a theatrical atmosphere emerges in which the characters live out their longing for comfort, closeness, and identity with comedic force.
A Stage Experience Full of Tempo
Fluffy Ecstasy takes us deep into a world where romantic projections, social roles, and personal crises collide. The production combines slapstick situations with a contemporary view of relationships in a globalized society. The Kleine Haus will become the scene of a vivid experimental arrangement, where each new encounter further disturbs the fragile balance.
The audience can expect an energetic stage experience between romantic comedy, farce, and queer performance. Those seeking turbulent dramaturgy, pointed dialogues, and an unusual production will experience an evening at the Mainz State Theatre filled with tempo, music, and sparkling acting.
