Start the Sunday with movement and good spirits

Get up, have breakfast, and then dance together: At Wake up and move!, the Staatstheater Mainz invites everyone to an open dance class. On Sunday, December 13, 2026, the foyer of the Grand House will transform into an inclusive movement space for people of all ages.

Dance, encounter, and field excitement without performance pressure

Here, the perfect formation does not matter; what counts is the joy of movement. Whether with dance experience or for the first time, with or without disabilities: the open dance class brings together different people and creates a vibrant stadium atmosphere right in the theater. Fan chants give way to rhythmic impulses, the spotlight of the stage to the concentrated energy of dancing together.

Open play system for all generations

The participants discover new movement possibilities, follow simple dance instructions, and develop their own rhythm. The play system remains open, the tactic is participation: children, adults, and older people dance next to and with each other. This creates an inclusive movement experience filled with excitement, audience noise, and real community.

Accessible and without registration

The offering is designed without age restrictions and is accessible for everyone. Participation is free, and no registration is required. It starts at 11:00 AM, and the dance class lasts until 12:00 PM. The meeting point is the Staatstheater Mainz.

Conclusion: Dancing awake together

Wake up and move! combines dance education, encounters, and movement into a special Sunday experience. Those who want to experience Mainz away from classical performances and feel the energy of an open dance class will experience an hour full of rhythm, emotions, and shared joy of play here.
