A Light for Peace: Prayer for Peace in St. Christoph
During Advent, the Prayer for Peace gathers people in Mainz who wish to pause, pray, and create a sign of unity together. The focus is on the Light from Bethlehem – a small flame with great symbolic power that expresses hope, friendship, and understanding among nations.
Prayer, Silence, and Spiritual Community
The Prayer for Peace invites you to a reflective religious experience at the memorial site St. Christoph. Calm moments, joint prayer, and the Advent atmosphere create space for personal concerns, intercessions, and the longing for peace. Believers from different traditions, as well as interested visitors, find an open place for encounters here.
The Light from Bethlehem as a Sign of Hope
The Peace Light action represents the passing on of a visible sign of peace and community. The flame is traditionally lit in the birthplace of Jesus in Bethlehem and brought to many countries by scouts. During the Prayer for Peace, the light reminds us of the Christmas message and the mission to foster peace in our personal environment and society.
Advent Liturgical Service in a Special Memorial Site
The memorial site St. Christoph combines religious reflection with an awareness of history and responsibility. In this unique environment, the prayer receives additional depth: The collective pause directs attention to reconciliation, humanity, and the dignity of every person. The Prayer for Peace is suitable for individuals, families, and anyone seeking a moment of tranquility during Advent.
The Prayer for Peace begins on Friday, December 18, 2026, at 5:00 PM in St. Christoph in Mainz. All interested individuals are invited to experience this spiritual community and to carry the sign of peace in their hearts.
