Reimagining Energy: Prof. Dr. Christian Stöcker in Mainz
How quickly is our energy system really changing? On November 9, 2026, Prof. Dr. Christian Stöcker will address the surprisingly positive developments in energy and renewable technologies as part of the interdisciplinary lecture series VOICES FOR CLIMATE at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz.
Facts Instead of Energy Myths
“German solo effort,” “expensive,” “people don’t want this,” or “the market doesn’t want this” – the energy transition is often accompanied by contradictory claims. Christian Stöcker uses these debates as a reason for a fact update and shows how the transformation towards a predominantly renewable-based energy system is developing worldwide.
An Energy Revolution with High Dynamics
The focus is on the global acceleration of the expansion of renewable energies. The development is still not fast enough, but it is progressing with a momentum that challenges the previous energy discourse. The lecture connects current energy issues with understandable context and opens up insights into technological, social, and economic connections.
VOICES FOR CLIMATE at JGU Mainz
The event is part of the lecture series VOICES FOR CLIMATE, which examines the climate crisis from scientific, humanities, social sciences, and artistic perspectives. Interactive impulses as well as discussion and Q&A sessions create an event experience where the audience not only listens but actively engages with the speakers and the topics.
An Evening for Climate, Energy, and Future Issues
Christian Stöcker is a Professor of Digital Communication at HAW Hamburg as well as a journalist and author. His perspective combines scientific expertise with journalistic analysis and a clear target audience communication. For the event planning of the series, JGU relies on an interdisciplinary format that makes complex future topics accessible and invites personal opinion formation.
Conclusion
Visitors can expect an informative evening about renewable energies, global developments, and the facts behind common narratives on the energy transition. Those who wish to better understand the energy policy discourse and gain new perspectives on the transformation of the energy system can best experience VOICES FOR CLIMATE live in Mainz.
