Neon, Magic and Female Revenge: THE BLOODIEST at the Shell Cinema
On Tuesday, January 26, 2027, the FILMZ Shell Cinema brings THE BLOODIEST, a dark science fiction story from Cameroon, to the campus of Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. The film combines black humor, dystopian imagery, and a powerful perspective on female empowerment.
A Night Between Sex, Magic, and Danger
At the center are best friends Majolie and Chouchou, two sex workers whose lives spiral out of control when a high-ranking politician dies in their bed. What begins as a shocking incident evolves into a feverish journey through the neon-soaked nightlife of a dystopian Cameroon.
Dystopian Cinema with Its Own Rhythm
THE BLOODIEST unfolds its tension between physical threat, societal power, and magical moments. The police are hot on the friends' heels, while fate draws ever closer. The result is an unconventional female revenge film with science fiction elements and a distinctive atmosphere.
FILMZ Shell Cinema: Cinema as a Community Experience
Since 2022, the Shell Cinema has been firmly established in the Mainz cinema and cultural scene. The series organized by FILMZ e.V. regularly attracts several thousand visitors to the campus. Selected films are shown in a communal lecture hall atmosphere, often in the original version with German subtitles. In 2025, the Shell Cinema became the first university cinema to receive the Cinema Program Award of Rhineland-Palatinate.
Free Admission and Open to Film Fans
The film is scheduled to start at 20:30. Admission to the Shell Cinema is free, and entrance usually opens half an hour before the start. Seat cushions and cool drinks create a relaxed cinema atmosphere where film fans, students, and curious guests can experience special discoveries together.
Conclusion
With THE BLOODIEST, the audience can expect an unusual cinema evening between Afrofuturism, black humor, magic, and swift pursuit. Those who love bold genre cinema and a communal festival atmosphere will make a strong cinematic discovery at the Shell Cinema with free admission.
