Whistleblower in Mainz: Investigative Journalism Meets Documentary Film and Discussion
On Thursday, November 26, 2026, CinéMayence at the Institut français Mainz invites you to an intensive evening about investigative journalism, courage, and the power of published information. The focus is on the 90-minute documentary Whistleblower by Marc Bauder, Germany 2026.
When Secret Information Becomes Public
Whistleblowers navigate between responsibility, personal risk, and the claim to societal enlightenment. The film takes this charge-filled perspective and opens a concentrated view on people who make grievances visible and thereby trigger political and societal debates.
Film Evening with Journalistic Context
The screening takes place as part of the lecture series radikal.extrem in cooperation with Mainz University. A discussion with Prof. Erik Winker and Frederik Obermaier is planned afterward. Obermaier is known as an investigative journalist for his work on the Panama Papers and the Ibiza scandal, among others.
Audience Atmosphere at CinéMayence
CinéMayence represents a demanding municipal cinema experience in the historical Schönborner Hof. The central location at Schillerplatz, the concentrated atmosphere of the studio cinema, and the combination of film screening and discussion create the perfect setting for an evening that does not end at the screen.
Event Planning and Practical Information
The event is scheduled to start at 8:00 PM. Admission at CinéMayence is regularly 6.50 Euro; reduced tickets cost 5.50 Euro. The cinema is located on the first floor of the Institut français. The building is not barrier-free. The Schillerplatz stop is directly in front of the building, and parking is available at the Proviantamt parking garage or Schillerstraße.
Conclusion: An Evening for Those Who Look Closer
Whistleblower combines cinematic observation with journalistic expertise and current political relevance. Attendees can expect a focused event experience with documentary film, discussion, and space for their own questions. Those who want to discuss the significance of investigative research live will experience this evening at CinéMayence particularly immediately.
