When truth becomes a stage question: ANATOMY OF A FALL at the Shell Cinema

A death in the snow, a house full of tensions, and a statement that shakes every certainty: The FILMZ Shell Cinema presents the award-winning courtroom drama ANATOMY OF A FALL on January 11, 2027, in the shell of Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz.

A trial as a psychological chamber play

The renowned writer Sandra lives a reclusive life with her husband Samuel and their son Daniel in the French Alps. When Daniel finds his father dead in the snow, a search for the truth begins, soon transforming into a public trial. Murder, suicide, or tragic accident: Each explanation raises new questions.

Dramaturgy between testimony and memory

The production builds its tension not through simple answers but through the precise observation of contradictory perspectives. Statements become linguistic battlegrounds, memories turn into uncertain backdrops. At the center is the question of how credible testimony remains when personal injuries, intimate conflicts, and societal expectations intertwine.

Intense theater atmosphere in the lecture hall

The Shell Cinema transforms the JGU shell into a concentrated cinema space: dimming, projection, and rising seating create an immediate atmosphere for this multi-layered courtroom drama. The cool alpine landscape of the film meets the tense silence of the audience – a stage experience in the extended sense, where every glance and every silence gains significance.

Film art with social resonance

ANATOMY OF A FALL combines courtroom film, family drama, and character study. The story focuses on power relations, language, and the difficult search for objective truth. The Shell Cinema shows the film in its original language with subtitles, inviting a particularly immediate engagement with acting, dialogue, and cinematic dramaturgy.

Conclusion: An evening for keen observation

Visitors can expect an intense cinema evening about guilt, doubt, and the limits of human knowledge. Those wanting to experience intense film art, psychological tension, and a nuanced examination of credibility will find an extraordinary stage experience in ANATOMY OF A FALL in the cinema hall.
