Experience Tchaikovsky's Seasons in an Intimate Piano Concert
With Pianomania No. 12, the University of Music Mainz invites you to a special concert evening on November 18, 2026, in the Kalkhof-Rose Hall of the Academy of Sciences and Literature Mainz. The focus is on Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's poetic piano cycle The Seasons op. 37a.
Twelve Musical Pictures Between Spring and Winter
Tchaikovsky's cycle combines romantic sound language with atmospheric miniatures. Each piece opens its own musical window: Nature images, moods, and everyday scenes condense into a yearly cycle at the piano. Subtle nuances of touch, changing timbres, and precise articulation make the work a remarkable concert experience.
Young Pianists with Individual Sound Language
On stage are Jingyi Liang from Prof. Sae-Nal Lea Kim's class and Kevin Pfister from Prof. Sebastian Sternal's class. Their interpretations set different accents and give Tchaikovsky's music space for lyrical warmth, dancing flexibility, and expressive contrasts.
Pianomania in the Kalkhof-Rose Hall
The concert series of the University of Music Mainz takes place in the Kalkhof-Rose Hall of the Academy of Sciences and Literature Mainz. The setting creates ideal conditions for a concentrated live atmosphere, where every detail of orchestration at the piano, every dynamic tension arc and every melodic line becomes immediately perceptible.
