Advent Big Band Sound with Energy and Feeling
The Big Band 6-5000 stands for swing and jazz from the 1920s to the 1950s. Their repertoire includes more than 100 pieces, ranging from driving swing classics to melodic jazz standards. At the benefit concert, these musical roots meet swinging Christmas and gospel pieces.
Orchestration, Conducting, and Lively Stage Performance
With around 25 musicians, a multifaceted sound arises from trumpets, trombones, saxophones, rhythm section, and vocals. Under the direction of Tobias Jurasin, the ensemble combines precise synchronization with palpable joy of playing. The musical direction, expressive conducting, and dynamic stage performance make the concert evening a special concert experience.
Musical Tradition from Mainz-Weisenau
The amateur band, founded in 1990, brings together musicians from Mainz, Wiesbaden, Frankfurt, and Florstadt. The band's name refers to the big band classic Pennsylvania 6-5000 by Carl Sigman and Jerry Gray. Since 2005, Tobias Jurasin has been at the podium, shaping the ensemble's sound with trumpet, vocals, and musical direction.
Live Atmosphere in Advent
When festive gospel harmonies meet swinging brass arrangements, a warm, open audience atmosphere is created. The acoustics of the community center carry the radiant trumpet lines and rich trombone sounds into the room while the rhythm section holds the evening together with a bouncing groove.
Conclusion: A Concert Evening with Heart
The benefit concert of the Big Band 6-5000 offers festive live music, regional concert tradition, and a good cause in a lively Advent evening. Those who want to experience swing, gospel, and Christmas sounds in a special atmosphere should mark the date in Mainz-Weisenau.
